The Jasmine House Mentor Program will equip local students in need with the tools and support needed to thrive in their classrooms and society. The program will complement the traditional middle school curriculm by offering lessons in high school readiness, career coaching and other activities to support students' development and prepare them for long- term success. by getting to know these students and their goals, we will be able to advocate alignment between their goals and their course of studies. Through a supplmental program, exposure to music and arts, and mentoring relationships, children will be empowered to discover their talents and skills and grow into productive members of society.
Mentor programs are locally driven solutions that provide kids with a safe and supervised space to learn and grow. These programs help families thrive by introducing them to trusted adults, and filling the gap during and/or after school, leading to better grades, gained skills, and higher graduation rates. Unfortunately, the demand for these programs far exceeds the supply. Nationwide, only 1 in 3 families who want mentors for their children has access to these programs- this is where the Jasmine House Foundation is ready to engage.
During this time, mentors will work with students to provide focused and personalized skills development, consisting of a variety of activities. Some sessions will target dancing, where the students will be able to express their creative side through different dance styles. Additionally, motivational speaking sessions will aim to boost the students' self- confidence and encourage them to develop a growth mindset that is open to new challenges. We will leverage a survey approach at the beginning of each semester to propose, request and prioritize subjects to be covered.
